The 2025 Enchanting Plateau Exhibition was inaugurated at the Odilins Event Center in Jos, marking the start of a week‑long celebration of Plateau State’s artistic and cultural legacy. Under the unifying theme “One,” the event gathered painters, musicians, dancers, and cultural practitioners from across the state, aiming to promote tourism, strengthen cultural identity, and showcase the creative potential of the region’s youth.
In his opening address, Chuwang Pwajok highlighted the growing significance of the exhibition within Plateau’s cultural landscape. He described the gathering as more than a showcase of art; it is a platform for societal reflection, pride, and healing. Pwajok praised the young artists whose works capture local narratives of resilience, diversity, and communal spirit, asserting that their creativity is pivotal to shaping the state’s cultural future.
Visionary and founder David Thomas delivered a heartfelt keynote, recounting how Enchanting Plateau emerged from a simple dream to provide Plateau’s artists with a global stage and opportunities often denied to young creatives. He outlined the challenges artists face—limited visibility, insufficient appreciation, and financial constraints—and urged government agencies, corporate partners, and the private sector to view art as an investment with long‑term economic value. Thomas thanked Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and his team for their support, expressing hope that the exhibition will eventually rank among Nigeria’s and Africa’s premier cultural events.
Hon. Dachung Bagos, speaking on behalf of the state government, commended the initiative for empowering young creatives and highlighted the economic potential of the creative industry. He encouraged artists to protect their works through trademarks and to embrace the business side of creativity, arguing that Plateau’s art could become a major economic asset if properly harnessed.
Featured artists added personal reflections on the impact of the exhibition. Naomi Adamu, a repeat participant, described the event as an inspiring space that motivates continued creation despite sectoral challenges; her piece “Symbolic Identity,” crafted from natural seeds and gourds, celebrates Plateau’s cultural roots. David C. Nwadike echoed the sentiment, noting that the exhibition provides essential visibility for emerging talent and stresses that valuing art locally is the first step toward its monetization.
The exhibition’s displays, which depicted Plateau’s festivals, landscapes, and symbolic heritage, drew enthusiastic visitors who toured the stands and deepened their connection to the state’s identity. As the 2025 Enchanting Plateau Exhibition continues, it reinforces Plateau’s reputation as a growing creative hub and a destination of peace and tourism.
