COCIN LCC Sot-Vwang celebrated, Da Gyang Dudu Dalyop, with a special award for his unwavering support to the church, widows, the less‑privileged and the youth of Sot‑Vwang. The recognition, presented during a dedication ceremony at the newly completed COCIN LCC Sot‑Vwang church, highlighted Da Dudu Dalyop’s role in financing the church’s construction and his continued commitment to uplifting the community. “I am humbled by this honour,” Da Gyang Dudu Dalyop said. “It is a testament to the collective effort of my people and a reminder that I remain rooted in the land that shaped me.”
In a spirit of seasonal generosity, Da Dudu Dalyop distributed wrappers and cash gifts to about one hundred widows, enabling them to stitch Christmas clothes for their families. The gesture, part of an initiative he launched earlier this year, aims to combine festive cheer with sustainable economic empowerment. “Seeing the smiles on these mothers’ faces is reward enough,” he remarked, adding that the programme will continue beyond the holiday season.
Beyond the Christmas handouts, Dalyop has taken on the responsibility of sponsoring school fees for numerous children, many of whom he does not know personally. He pays full tuition for several students in primary and secondary schools across Sot‑Vwang and neighbouring villages, irrespective of tribe or background. “Education is the greatest equalizer,” he asserted, noting that his own upbringing by a steadfast father who insisted on schooling inspired his present‑day philanthropy.
- Looking ahead, Dalyop announced plans to remodel the community primary school in Sot‑Vwang, promising to mobilise resources for new classrooms, furniture and learning materials. He also revealed a list of one hundred widows he intends to empower further with cash and sewing supplies, and hinted at a broader development agenda that includes infrastructure, ICT support and vocational training for the youth. “The community has given me so much; it is only right that we give back,” he

While reflecting on broader national issues, Dalyop, who also serves as Vice‑Chairman of PIDAN and President of BECO worldwide, condemned the rising insecurity in the Middle Belt, describing it as a crisis amplified by a lack of political will. He called for decisive action, the use of modern technology such as drones and satellite imaging, and a renewed focus on education to break the cycle of violence. “When people are educated, they see the beauty of life and are less likely to be drawn into crime,” he added.
Plateau State Commissioner for Transport, Davou Gyang Jatau, expressed profound joy at being part of the dedication of the COCIN LCC Sot‑Vwang church, describing the occasion as a rare privilege. Drawing a parallel with biblical history, he said building a house of worship is akin to the honor granted to Solomon, and he prayed that the blessings of Solomon would rest upon all contributors. “Not everyone is given the chance to erect a temple for God,” he said, “and those who do are likened to Solomon in their generosity.”
Jatau used the platform to laud Da Gyang Dudu Dalyop, noting his instrumental role in the church’s completion and his broader impact on the Berom nation and Plateau State at large. He highlighted Dalyop’s dedication to preserving cultural heritage, his mentorship of young leaders, and his hands‑on involvement in education and welfare projects. “His example has inspired many of us in government to serve with humility and purpose,” the commissioner affirmed.

Widows who received the Christmas wrappers and cash donations described the gesture as a lifeline that restored dignity and provided a source of income during a difficult season. “When Da Gyang Dudu came with these gifts, our hearts were filled with hope,” said one recipient. “He never forgets us; his constant support for our children’s schooling and welfare reminds us that we are not alone.”
Parents of the children whose fees have been covered echoed similar sentiments, praying for God’s abundant blessings upon Dalyop and his family. “He pays our children’s school fees without asking for anything in return,” another beneficiary noted. “We pray that God continues to prosper him, for he is a true blessing to our community.”
Rev. Joshua Davou, guest preacher at the ceremony, urged the congregation to remain united in Christ and to emulate Da Gyang Dudu Dalyop’s example of servant‑leadership. He praised Dalyop’s contributions to the church’s roofing, the support for widows, and his commitment to educational scholarships, stating that such acts embody the gospel’s call to love and service.
Church and community leaders lauded Dalyop’s visionary philanthropy, noting that his efforts have turned the Sot‑Vwang community into a beacon of hope. “His dedication to education, economic empowerment and spiritual growth is a model for all of us,” they said, adding that the community looks forward to the promised school renovation as a lasting legacy which they know Da Gyang Dudu Dalyop will do it.
