A group of academics and non-academic staff from various tertiary institutions across Plateau State have formed the Plateau Academic for Mutfwang/Tinubu 2027, with the aim of mobilizing support for the re-election of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
The group, comprising professors, associate professors, and other academic staff from institutions such as the University of Jos, Plateau State University Bokkos, and the University of Education Pankshin, met at Greetlink Hotel Gold and Base Jos to officially launch their support.
In an interview with the Chief of Staff, Government House, BLDR Jeremiah Satmark, he expressed his delight at the gathering, saying, “This is a forum of academic professionals. They are talking about Tinubu and Mutfwang in 2027. How do you feel attending this meeting? I had mixed feelings before I entered here. But after the meeting, I was so happy.”
The Chief of Staff praised the academic community for their support, saying, “These are critical minds, and for them to agree to work for a person, you know, that is an endorsement.” 
The Patron of the group, Prof. Lazarus Maigoro, commended Governor Mutfwang’s efforts in transforming the state’s tertiary institutions, citing examples of increased funding, staff welfare, and accreditation of various courses.
The Coordinator of the group, Associate Prof. Augustine S. Azi, outlined their strategic objectives, including intellectual advocacy, voter sensitization, grassroots outreach, and policy dialogue.
The group has designed an operational map, with the first phase focusing on foundation and organization, the second phase on intellectual visibility and engagement, and the third phase on consolidation and endorsement.
The Chief of Staff, BLDR Jeremiah Satmark, in his address, commended the academic community for their support, saying, “I think many people have confirmed that it is divine the election of Governor Mutfwang.”
He also highlighted the government’s efforts in empowering citizens, saying, “Each ward is going to be empowering 1,000 citizens of Nigeria… 207,000 individuals are going to be found in every part of this state, across the country, not just across the country, 25, 5 people.”
Prof. Jemam Lar, Adviser to the group, said, “I was pleasantly surprised to see the intellectual consciousness of the governor. He had collected very, very deep, very many deep ideas that I never understood that he was a deep thinker.”
The group has begun its mobilization efforts, with plans to reach out to various institutions and communities across the state.
The Plateau Academic for Mutfwang/Tinubu 2027 is confident that their efforts will yield positive results, with Associate Prof. Azi saying, “We can demonstrate that intellectual engagement can shape politics, guide governance, and inspire progress.”
The group has pledged to mobilize support for Governor Mutfwang and President Tinubu, with Prof. Maigoro saying, “We will also be part of the decision-making… We will make our institutions better, we will make our state better, we will make our country better.”
The event was attended by prominent academics and stakeholders, who expressed their support for the governor and president.
