Jos, Plateau State – The Plateau North Unity Forum has thrown its weight behind the senatorial aspiration of Professor Danladi Abok Atu for the 2027 elections, describing him as a symbol of unity, competence, and transformative leadership needed to address the zone’s underrepresentation in the Red Chamber.
Addressing a press briefing in Jos on behalf of the Forum, Da Timothy Choji Kim said the endorsement followed a careful review of past legislative representation in Plateau North Senatorial District. He noted that the zone has suffered “gross underrepresentation” which has contributed to meagre progress and underdevelopment, largely driven by disunity along ethnic, religious, and cultural lines.
According to Kim, the Plateau North Unity Forum was formed to bridge these fault lines and chart a new course for the zone. He said the Forum draws membership from diverse ethnic nationalities across the six Local Government Areas of Plateau North and is guided by the motto: “Our Diversity, Our Strength.” He stressed that the Forum is all-inclusive, devoid of religious bias, ethnic coloration, generational discrimination, or gender exclusion.
Kim explained that the Forum’s objective is to secure quality legislative representation that is impactful, responsive, and transformative. He said Plateau North requires a leader with proven pedigree, resilience, intellectual depth, and moral standing, adding that governance in Nigeria demands courage, endurance, and steadfast commitment to the common good.
The Forum said after thorough scrutiny of the rich pool of personalities within the zone, it unanimously settled on Professor Danladi Abok Atu as the most qualified to represent Plateau North in 2027. Kim described the endorsement as grounded in careful evaluation and an unwavering belief in Atu’s capacity to deliver purposeful representation.
Highlighting Atu’s credentials, Kim cited his Ph.D. in Social Studies with specialization in Peace Education and Social Rehabilitation, his service as Secretary and later Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council, and his tenure as Secretary to the Government of Plateau State. He said Atu’s leadership style is inclusive, strategic, and people-oriented, with a track record in conflict resolution, dialogue, and reconciliation.
The Forum further pointed to Atu’s grassroots connection, widespread acceptance across communities, and commitment to youth mentorship and community development. Kim said Atu’s integrity, political awareness, and extensive networks position him to attract development and investment to Plateau North, with unity, poverty reduction, and quality education as actionable priorities.
Kim disclosed that the project has continued to attract wide acceptance across professional bodies, associations, and organized interest groups, many of which were represented at the briefing. He described Atu as “a symbol of hope, a vessel of transformation, and a beacon of inclusive leadership” for the zone.
The Forum also commended Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for promoting unity through dialogue, referencing his recent parley with past governors of the state and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on peaceful coexistence in Plateau. It further appreciated the President for his efforts in uniting the country through the Renewed Hope Programme.
In its resolution, the Plateau North Unity Forum passed a vote of confidence on Professor Danladi Abok Atu as a worthy, capable, and credible candidate for the Plateau North Senatorial seat in 2027. The Forum called on stakeholders, leaders, and citizens across the zone to unite behind the project to advance progress and shared prosperity for Plateau North, Plateau State, and Nigeria.
