The Christian Counsellors and Caregivers Alliance of Nigeria (CCCAN) held its first inauguration and induction of foundation members at the Government House Chapel in Jos, Plateau State, on November 5, 2025. The event, themed “Healing the Broken, Equipping the Called,” aimed to promote Christian counseling and caregiving in Nigeria. 
Rev. Dr. Enock Adamu, the National President of CCCAN, stated that the organization’s vision is to provide professional Christian counseling and caregiving services to Nigerians. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with the government to address trauma and mental health issues in the country as the CCCAN members operates in respective of your religion of tribe.
Adamu urged the Plateau State Government to recognize and partner with CCCAN to provide training and certification for caregivers. He noted that CCCAN has trained 223 individuals, with 20 becoming fellows, and has participants from Cameroon and Liberia UK and the rest.
Rev. Prof. Sunday B. Agang, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, CCCAN, charged the inductees to be ambassadors of Christ and provide solutions to mental health issues affecting individuals and communities. He emphasized the need for proper counseling to address the economic and security challenges facing the country.
Agang noted that mental health is a major issue and challenge in Nigeria, and CCCAN aims to raise awareness and provide support to those affected, also urges government to support and partner with Christian counsellors and caregivers alliance of Nigeria CCCAN to help reduce and tackle mental health problems in Nigeria.
Dr. Hankuri Gaya Tawus, Director of Publicity and Mobilization, CCCAN, stated that Christian counseling and caregiving are essential for restoring dignity and honor to individuals. He emphasized that CCCAN aims to equip caregivers and counselors to provide healing and support to those in need.
Tawus noted that CCCAN’s goal is to ensure that people who are wounded and broken find healing, and that the organization is calling on Nigerians to acknowledge and support mental health initiatives.
Rt. Rev. Nkechi U. Nwosu, the First Female Bishop of the Methodist Church, was present at the event, highlighting the importance of Christian counseling and caregiving in addressing mental health issues.
Esther Moses, a participant, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to be inducted into CCCAN. She hopes to benefit from the organization’s resources and networking opportunities to serve her community.
Rev. Dr. John Iliya Kachalla, a Gindiri Theological Lecturer, emphasized the biblical and theological importance of Christian counseling and caregiving. He stated that CCCAN provides a platform for caregivers to restore dignity and honor to individuals.
The event marked a significant milestone in the establishment of CCCAN, with 223 individuals inducted as members and 20 fellows recognized for their contributions to Christian counseling and caregiving.
