The Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) has reiterated its commitment to promoting health insurance awareness and providing quality healthcare services to the people of Plateau State. The agency’s Acting Director-General, Dr. Kwande Solomon Dawal, stated this during a visit to the PLASCHEMA pavilion at the Nigeria University Games (NUGA) currently taking place at the University of Jos.
Dr. Dawal, who is an alumnus of the University of Jos, expressed his delight to be associated with the institution and wished all athletes a successful and injury-free games. He advised athletes to prioritize their health and ensure they are in optimal physical condition to compete effectively.
As a health management agency, PLASCHEMA is committed to providing health insurance coverage to individuals and families, and is open to partnering with organizations and individuals to achieve this goal. The agency’s pavilion at the NUGA games is providing information and tips on health promotion and disease prevention.
Dr. Dawal emphasized the importance of health insurance, stating that it is crucial for individuals to have access to quality healthcare services without facing financial hardship. He urged citizens of Plateau State to take advantage of PLASCHEMA’s health insurance scheme, which aims to provide universal coverage to all residents of the state.
The agency has been engaging with community leaders, including traditional leaders, to promote health insurance awareness and encourage enrollment. Dr. Dawal stated that the agency is working with religious leaders to create awareness and promote health insurance enrollment in worship places and marketplaces.
PLASCHEMA has also been conducting a baseline survey to gather data on health insurance awareness and enrollment in the state. The agency is analyzing the data and plans to implement strategies to increase enrollment and improve healthcare services.
The Acting Director-General expressed gratitude to the Governor of Plateau State, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for his support and commitment to the healthcare sector. He stated that the Governor’s equity plan, “Mutfwang Care,” has improved access to healthcare services for many residents, particularly retired civil servants and vulnerable populations.
Dr. Bernard M. Doro minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, also visited the NUGA games event centers and commended the organizers for such an epic event which will remain in our memories.
The NUGA games, which are being hosted by the University of Jos, have attracted athletes from various universities across the country. PLASCHEMA’s participation in the games is part of its efforts to promote health insurance awareness and provide quality healthcare services to the people of Plateau State.
