The President of Mangun Old Students’ Association (MAOSA), Hon. Sunday Garba Biggs condemns in the strongest terms, the attack that claimed the lives of many innocent lives in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North LGA of Plateau State, on Palm Sunday.
MAOSA President notes with utmost concerns that attacks and killings of innocent people has continued unabated, untamed and seemingly uncontrolled.
According to MAOSA President, “It is sufficiently evident that the act of killing and destruction of lives and property in Nigeria is no longer news because of the scandalous dimension it has taken.
“On behalf of the Executive Committee and members of Mangun Old Students’ Association, we wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims of this heinous crime.
“This is to also remind the government of its constitutional obligation to protect the lives and property of its citizens to avoid the collapse of our country.
“It is obvious that with proper intelligence gathering and sharing, most security breaches and crisis will be averted and nipped in the bud early enough.
“Government and security agencies must therefore, take proactive measures to ensure there is no repetition of senseless and brutal killing in Plateau State and anywhere in Nigeria”.
Consequently, MAOSA President urges government to equip and create the enabling environment for security agents to perform their constitutional duties of protecting lives and property.
He calls on the people of Plateau State to be steadfast and remain committed to the path of peace, saying, “there is no alternative to peace, and no one has monopoly of violence, but towing the path of peace and tranquility is virile and non-negotiable”.
