*Mikang, Plateau State* – The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress House of Assembly primary for Mikang State Constituency held on 20 May 2026.
The result was announced by the Returning Officer, Hon. Muhammad Auwal Hamza, shortly after the conclusion of the exercise in Mikang in the presence of the media, party officials, and APC faithful. According to the declaration, Gapyil polled 5,606 votes to defeat his closest rival, Tindi Nkat, who secured 1,201 votes.
The announcement put to rest weeks of tension in the constituency, as a large turnout of party supporters gathered to back the Speaker. Gapyil’s margin of victory placed him far ahead of other aspirants in the contest.
With the outcome, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil has secured the APC ticket to represent Mikang State Constituency in the 2027 general election.
