Lengdung Tungchamma, author of “Motion: A Jenta Story”, has emphasized the transformative power of books, citing examples of how influential books have changed the world. Speaking at the Jos Book Fair, Tungchamma noted that America’s greatness can be attributed to the power of words, specifically the US Constitution, which has shaped the nation’s thought and culture.
Tungchamma highlighted the story of Douglas Adams, author of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, who despite facing numerous challenges, wrote a book that inspired tech giants like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. He noted that Adams’ book was a favourite among tech innovators, and its ideas influenced the development of Microsoft and Apple.
The author also cited the example of Jeff Bezos, who at 11 years old, delivered a speech on why humanity should go to space, and today owns Blue Origin, a company taking people to space. Tungchamma emphasized that books have the power to change lives, nations, and the world, and encouraged Nigerians to cultivate a reading habit.
