The Campaign Council of Rt. Hon. Naanlong Gapyil Daniel has expressed appreciation to the people of Mikang for their support following the acceptance of results from Piapung Ward A and Piapung Ward B in the ongoing APC rerun primary for Mikang State Constituency.
In a statement signed by the Director-General, Kevin Makum, on Friday, May 30, 2026, the Council said the recognition of the Piapung results has placed the Speaker in an early lead of over 300 votes in the rerun exercise. It described the development as clear evidence of grassroots confidence and loyalty to his leadership.
The Council noted that the results recorded so far reaffirm Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel’s strong relationship with constituents, his track record of purposeful representation, and commitment to inclusive leadership and the development of Mikang State Constituency.
It sincerely thanked Mikang people for standing firmly with the Speaker and reaffirming their faith in his vision and capacity to continue delivering quality representation at the Plateau State House of Assembly.
The Campaign Council disclosed that voting is presently ongoing in Lalin and Tunkus Federal Wards, widely regarded as the Speaker’s strongest political strongholds where he enjoys overwhelming grassroots acceptance and massive support.
It expressed optimism that the exercise in the two Federal Wards would further consolidate the Speaker’s lead, urging party faithful, supporters and citizens to remain peaceful, vigilant, and expect greater victory as collation continues.
While reaffirming commitment to the ideals of the APC, internal democracy and peaceful political engagement, the Council said it remains confident that the final outcome of the rerun will reflect the clearly expressed mandate already demonstrated by the people of Mikang.
The Council maintained that the acceptance of the Piapung A and B results was a step in the right direction for the credibility of the process, and called on all stakeholders to ensure the remaining wards are concluded transparently in line with party guidelines.
It concluded that Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel remains focused on consolidating his lead and delivering victory for the APC in Mikang, assuring that the mandate freely given by the people will be protected through due process.
