The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Hon. Dr. Bernard Doro, has pledged his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection in 2027, urging stakeholders from the northern zone to rally behind the president’s Renew Hope agenda.
Dr. Doro made this pledge at a high-powered meeting with stakeholders from the northern zone, where he also expressed his appreciation for the president’s appointment, despite not living in the country. He praised the APC national chairman, Prof. Nentawe, for his role in securing the ministerial position for the Northern Zone.
The minister introduced himself, highlighting his background and commitment to serving the community. He emphasized his desire to work with stakeholders to drive the Renew Hope agenda and address pressing issues such as poverty and insecurity.
According to Dr. Doro, Nigeria has approximately 230 million people, with about 63% multidimensionally poor. He stressed the need to tackle poverty, which is a major driver of insecurity, and address the over 20 million out-of-school children.
The minister assured stakeholders that he would work tirelessly to deliver results, urging them to join hands and support the government’s efforts. He emphasized the importance of collective action to achieve success and reclaim the state’s rightful position.
Dr. Doro highlighted the ministry’s plans to review and reposition itself to address humanitarian crises and provide support to those in need. He emphasized the need for clear policies to drive development and reduce poverty.
The meeting was attended by stakeholders from the northern zone, who expressed their support for the minister and the government’s initiatives. The minister invited questions and comments from stakeholders, indicating his commitment to collaboration and collective action.
