Jos, Plateau State – The North-Central Zonal Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Barnabas Ijashi, has called on Plateau residents and political aspirants to join the party, describing it as litigation-free and well positioned to deliver positive leadership under the guidance of its founder, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.

Speaking in Jos, Hon. Ijashi said he resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after serving as secretary of the elders council in Bassa Federal Constituency and chairman of the elders council in Bassa. He noted that his decision followed what he described as a deviation from the original vision of PDP’s founding fathers, the late Chief Solomon Lar, whom he once served as Special Adviser when Lar was national chairman.

Ijashi urged those seeking elective offices, from governorship to councillorship, to take advantage of the NDC platform while it remains open and free of internal crises. He warned that the political space would become crowded once aspirants who lose out in other parties’ primaries begin to seek alternatives, saying, “Come while the sun shines, because it’s going to be dark very soon.”

He identified Senator Henry Seriake Dickson as the founder of the NDC and Barrister Morgan Henry as the national secretary. He also commended the Plateau State chapter of the party, led by Chairman Solomon Ndam, describing the team as formidable. He added that the party’s congresses would commence by the end of the month.

Hon. Ijashi thanked the media for their support and expressed appreciation to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for registering the party. He said the registration is proof that “God is in this party” and urged Plateau people to align with the NDC’s leadership, which he described as focused and ready for democratic service.
