The Secretary to the Government of Plateau State, Arch. Samuel Nanchang Jatau, has praised Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for his leadership role and support to the health sector. Jatau made this remark at the symbolic opening of PLASCHEMA zonal offices and presentation of motorcycles to local government coordinators.
Jatau commended the Director-General of PLASCHEMA, Dr. Kwande Solomon Dawal, and his management staff for their efforts in achieving universal health coverage. He noted that the Equity Care, also known as Mutfwang Care, has impacted the lives of retirees, the old, and the vulnerable.
The Secretary emphasized the importance of community participation and trust in the success of the health insurance scheme. He called on traditional rulers, community leaders, and local government authorities to support PLASCHEMA’s efforts.
Jatau encouraged Plateau State residents to enroll in the health insurance scheme, stating that it is a safety net and an investment in their future. He assured government support to PLASCHEMA to enable them to continue their good work.
The Commissioner of Health, Dr. Nicholas Ba’amlong, expressed appreciation for PLASCHEMA’s efforts in implementing the contributory health insurance scheme. He highlighted the benefits of the scheme, stating that it would enable people to access quality healthcare without financial burden.
Dr. Ba’amlong noted that the validation meeting would help address enrollment issues and increase the effectiveness of the health insurance scheme. He emphasized that the scheme would lead to positive health outcomes and enable primary health centers to identify and treat basic diseases.
The Acting Director-General of PLASCHEMA, Dr. Kwande Solomon Dawal, emphasized the agency’s mandate to achieve universal health coverage in Plateau State. He explained that the motorcycles were aimed at reaching out to the grassroots to enroll them in the health insurance scheme, he appreciates Dr Mannaseh Agabus the immediate past DG PLASCHEMA for his leadership role of providing the offices at the local governments, according to Dr kwande the motorcycles where purchased by Dr Mannaseh Agabus since 2024 for this purposes, he also appreciate Hon. Epriam Usman the honourable commissioner of local government and chieftaincy affairs for his support and also the ALGON chairman and all the local government chairmen.
The motorcycles are expected to facilitate the community base health insurance CBHI and improve access to healthcare services, particularly for those in the informal sector. According to Dr. Dawal, the initiative seeks to empower communities by shifting health insurance management from the agency to the people.
Dr. Dawal highlighted the importance of community-based health insurance in increasing healthcare coverage, particularly for those in the informal sector. He expressed gratitude to Governor Mutfwang for his support and commitment to improving healthcare in the state.
The Executive Chairman of Jos North Local Government, Barr. JK Chris, appreciated Governor Mutfwang for the support and collaboration they are receiving, which has boosted the health sector, particularly PLASCHEMA. He noted that over 1,000 people from Jos North have enrolled in the Equity Plan Mutfwang Care and are benefiting from PLASCHEMA.
Barr. Chris expressed gratitude to Governor Mutfwang for his continuous support to the health sector and pledged to continue supporting him in touching lives in Jos North. He noted that Jos North health sector has been doing well in education and enrolling more beneficiaries, and has touched many lives through the health insurance program of PLASCHEMA.
