The Governing Council of Salem University Lokoja has approved the reappointment of Prof. Alewo Johnson-Akubo as the Vice-Chancellor of the university for a second term.

Johnson-Akubo’s reappointment was announced in a statement signed by the university registrar, Dr Emmanuel Adejoh, in Lokoja on Thursday.

Adejoh explained that the decision of the council was aimed at consolidating the current gains in all-round academic growth he has brought to bear.

“The university governing council also considered Johnson-Akubo’s strides in policy re-engineering and development of the first privately owned university in north-central Nigeria as far-reaching and commendable.

“The council expressed confidence in his (Johnson-Akubo’s) ability and agility to continue with the magic wand in transforming the institution into one of the best citadels of learning within the West African sub-region.

“While congratulating the VC on his reappointment, the council prayed God to grant the VC the grace, wisdom and understanding to pilot the affairs of the university to greater heights,” he said.
