Thousands Welcome Rep.Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi on Thank-You Tour Across Pankshin, Kanke, Kanam

The tour, which began at his constituency office in Pankshin, saw massive crowds from various wards across Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam Local Government Areas turn out to welcome the lawmaker. Party leaders, ward executives, stakeholders, and supporters lined the streets in celebration of his emergence as the APC flagbearer.

Speaking to the crowd in Pankshin, Gagdi said the victory belonged to the people and not to him alone. “This victory did not belong to me alone; it belongs to the progressive people of Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam who believe in continuity and good representation,” he stated, describing the turnout as overwhelming and humbling.

Gagdi, who won the primaries held on May 16, 2026, with 29,207 votes out of 31,150 cast, described the exercise as peaceful. He commended APC faithful across the 36 wards for their orderly conduct and massive participation, noting that the process reflected the party’s strength at the grassroots.

“This is not my first election. I have contested several elections, won most of them, and I consider it important to always return to the people to say thank you,” he said, reaffirming his tradition of appreciating constituents after every electoral contest.

The lawmaker used the opportunity to call for unity within the party, urging both supporters and opponents to put aside differences for the progress of the constituency. “Politics is about inclusion. I call on everyone, including those who did not support me, to join hands with us to move the constituency forward. The constituency belongs to all of us,” he said.

Addressing criticisms circulating on social media, Gagdi said he had chosen to remain focused and selective in his responses. “I have heard a lot, especially on social media, but I have chosen to allow the process and the people’s actions to speak. I do not respond to propaganda with propaganda,” he stated.

From Pankshin, the tour moved to Kanke Local Government Area, where another large crowd received him with songs, dances, and chants of support. APC Chairman in Kanke, Walbe Ali, said the turnout was proof of the lawmaker’s acceptance and urged constituents to give him full support in 2027. Gagdi described Kanke as his “first home” and pledged to continue impacting the area positively.

In Kanam, Gagdi paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Kanam, Alhaji Muhammadu Mu’azu Muhammadu II, to express gratitude for the monarch’s blessings and prayers. The Emir congratulated the lawmaker and urged him to sustain his focus on the welfare of the people, stressing that “power comes from God” and should be used to serve.

During an interaction with journalists, Gagdi said his acceptance across the constituency was evident in the primaries and the reception during the tour. “I am a grassroots politician. I can walk freely in my constituency, interact with the people, and share in their daily experiences. That shows the level of acceptability,” he said.

Concluding the tour, Gagdi expressed confidence ahead of the 2027 elections, saying the party was prepared to face any opposition. “We are ready to face other political parties. The people have spoken, and we are confident going forward,” he said, adding that reconciliation efforts were ongoing to bring all party members together for a united front.
