Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam, Plateau State – Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi has completed the first day of his ward tour across the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency, recording massive turnout in the communities visited on Monday, May 11, 2026.
The House of Representatives member engaged residents in Tal, Garram, Chip, Jiblik, Langkang, Belning, Kangshu, Kadung, and Fier wards as part of his ongoing grassroots engagement ahead of the 2026 and 2027 political cycle.
Addressing supporters at each stop, Gagdi stressed the need for unity, political awareness, and peaceful participation. He thanked constituents for their continued loyalty, saying the large turnout reflected the strong bond between him and the grassroots.
The lawmaker urged residents not to be swayed by intimidation or distractions, insisting that political power belongs to the people and must be safeguarded through active democratic participation. He called for calm and focus, noting that unity should prevail despite political differences.
In Chip Ward, Gagdi described himself as a “son of the soil” who has worked consistently for the Chip Chiefdom. He said true leadership is measured by tangible progress, pointing to projects and interventions delivered in the area. “He who brings development to his people is the one that can be called a leader,” he stated, adding that constituents had witnessed his efforts firsthand.
Gagdi also made a case for legislative continuity, arguing that longer tenure in Parliament builds experience and delivers better results. He urged support for his bid for a third term, saying his victory would translate to more gains for the constituency.
At Jiblik Ward, the lawmaker met constituents at the Abwordyis community hall, a facility constructed under his administration. He highlighted his record on employment, education, and infrastructure, including securing permanent jobs for youths, sponsoring JAMB fees for secondary school students, and delivering clean water projects and community buildings.
He challenged residents to hold all aspirants accountable, saying they should demand evidence of service before making political choices. In a gesture of reconciliation, Gagdi extended an invitation to those who did not support him in past elections to join hands for the next phase.
Responding, the APC Chairman of Jiblik Ward commended Gagdi for the “visible dividends of democracy” in the ward, particularly in water supply and empowerment. He said the lawmaker’s impact was being felt at the grassroots and expressed gratitude on behalf of the community.
