The National President of the Mushere Chiefdom Development Association (MCDA), *Amb. Duwam Bosco*, has called on Mushere sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora to remain united and protect the cultural heritage handed down by their forefathers.
In a statement titled _“Your Past and Present Identity: A Call to Unity in Mushere Nation”_ issued on *August 9, 2026*, Amb. Bosco said identity, unity and heritage must guide the community as it navigates modern challenges.
*Rooted in Heritage*
The MCDA President described the Mushere people’s past as one built on courage, integrity, hard work and communal living.
“Our forefathers built Mushere on the foundation of unity, mutual respect, and service to one another. Disputes were settled under the trees. Celebrations were community affairs. No one was a stranger, and no one was left behind,” he stated.
He warned that forgetting that history would mean losing direction.
“To forget that past is to lose our compass. Our history is not a burden; it is a mirror that shows us what made us great,” he said.
*A Present Identity Tested, But Hopeful*
Amb. Bosco noted that Mushere identity today is being tested by modernization, politics, social media and external influences that have created divisions along party, village, church and personal lines.
However, he expressed optimism, citing the rise of a new generation of Mushere people excelling in education, leadership, business and public service.
“Our present identity must be this: _A people who respect the past, but are not trapped by it. A people who embrace the present, but do not lose themselves in it_,” he said.
*Path to Unity*
The MCDA President outlined four steps to strengthen unity in Mushere nation:
1. *Remember our roots:* Teach children the Mushere story, values, struggles and victories.
2. *Celebrate one another:* Reference was made to the show of love during events on *August 8, 2026*, as proof that collective celebration strengthens bonds.
3. *Speak with one voice:* “Politics will come and go. But Mushere will remain. Let us disagree without insulting, compete without destroying, and lead without excluding.”
4. *Invest in our people:* Support education, empower youth, care for elders and develop communities together.
*“Do Not Shift the Ancient Stones”*
In a strong appeal to safeguard tradition, Amb. Bosco urged Mushere people not to tamper with cultural landmarks inherited from their ancestors.
“Finally, if we are for peace, let us never partake in shifting the ancient stones we inherited from our forefathers,” he declared.
*One People, One Destiny*
Concluding, the MCDA President said the future of Mushere will be determined by actions taken today.
“Let us choose unity. Let us choose peace. Let us choose Mushere first. If we hold unto our values from the past and apply wisdom in the present, the Mushere nation will not only survive, it will thrive and lead by example in Plateau State and beyond,” he said.
He prayed for God’s blessings upon Mushere land and all its children.
