MIKANG LEGISLATORS BACK TIMDI NKAT FOR STATE ASSEMBLY, ENDORSE MUTFWANG FOR SECOND TERM

Mikang, Plateau State – Councillors of the Mikang Legislative Council have unanimously endorsed Hon. Timdi Nkat for the Mikang State Assembly seat, while also declaring support for Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s second-term bid ahead of the party primaries.IMG 20260513 WA0288

The endorsement was reached during a meeting held at the Legislative Chamber on Tuesday evening. Members representing the 18 wards in Mikang Local Government Area attended and openly declared their support for both aspirants.

Convening the meeting, Leader of the House and Councillor for Lalin Ward, Rt. Hon. Shepshal Putdet Maikalango, stressed the need to sustain zoning and power rotation in Mikang. He said the arrangement is vital for unity and peaceful political relations within the local government.

The councillors noted that power rotation ensures fairness and balance among districts, arguing that leadership should not remain confined to one area. They said adherence to the system strengthens trust and inclusiveness in governance at the grassroots level.IMG 20260513 WA0286

Members also commended Governor Mutfwang for ongoing road projects in Mikang, saying the interventions reflect his administration’s commitment to rural development. They urged continued support for the governor to consolidate on the gains recorded so far.

Describing Hon. Timdi as competent and energetic, the lawmakers said he possesses the fresh ideas required to provide effective representation for Mikang Constituency at the Plateau State House of Assembly. The motion for Hon. Timdi’s endorsement was moved by Hon. Alexander Sangpien Yongpien, Councillor for Yepwes Ward, and seconded by Hon. Putehl Jonathan Petei, Councillor for Tehlkang Ward. Both pledged to mobilize support for his candidacy across the local government.

Responding, Hon. Timdi thanked the lawmakers for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to provide quality representation, prioritize women and youth empowerment, and sponsor legislation that promotes development across Mikang if elected.
