The Plateau State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nicholas Ba’amlog, has applauded the Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) for its strides in strengthening healthcare delivery across the state.
The Commissioner made this remark during an official visit to PLASCHEMA, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Bitrus Keln Hosea, and other top officials. The visit was aimed at assessing the Agency’s progress and offering support to enhance its operations.
Dr. Ba’amlog commended the Director General of PLASCHEMA, Dr. Kwande Solomon Dawal, on his recent appointment as the substantive Director General of the Agency, describing it as “well-deserved”. He expressed confidence in Dr. Dawal’s leadership capacity to drive reforms and reposition the Agency for greater impact.
The Commissioner noted that the visit provided first-hand insight into the Agency’s restructured operational framework, aligned with the present administration’s healthcare agenda. He urged the Agency to sustain its current momentum, emphasizing the importance of consistency in delivering accessible and quality healthcare services to residents of Plateau State.
Dr. Kwande expressed appreciation for the visit and the Ministry’s continued support. He highlighted recent improvements within the Agency, including the provision of a more spacious and centrally located office facility, which has enhanced coordination and overall efficiency.
The Director General also disclosed ongoing efforts to digitize the Agency’s database across healthcare facilities, a move aimed at improving data management and service delivery. According to him, upgraded internet infrastructure and office-wide Wi-Fi access are already boosting staff productivity and operational effectiveness.
Responding to questions from journalists about the need for PLASCHEMA to have an Ambulance for emergency and referral cases, The Commissioner and the Director General also discussed the need for PLASCHEMA to have an ambulance to facilitate emergency services, especially in rural areas and the commissioner promised to look into it as his excellency Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang is commited to continue to support the health sector.
Addressing staff, Dr. Ba’amlog lauded their dedication and encouraged continued collaboration and support for the Agency’s leadership in achieving its mandate.
Dr. Kwande assured that the Agency would continue to work towards ensuring universal healthcare coverage for the people of Plateau State, leveraging the support of the government and other stakeholders.
The visit was seen as a demonstration of the government’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery in Plateau State, and PLASCHEMA’s efforts to enhance its services to the people.
The Commissioner and his team were given a tour of the facility, which has been upgraded with modern equipment and technology, including solar power and internet connectivity.
The Director General’s office is now located in a more accessible and centrally located building, which has improved coordination and efficiency.
The Agency has also commenced the process of automating its systems, with a view to improving service delivery and enhancing transparency.
The visit was widely welcomed by staff and management of PLASCHEMA, who expressed gratitude to the government for its support and commitment to improving healthcare in the state.
