*Mikan, Plateau State* – The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and member representing Mikan Constituency, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil, received a massive show of support as delegates rallied behind him during the APC state assembly primaries in Piapung Ward B and Koenoem ward B on Monday.
A large crowd turned out to queue behind the Speaker, signaling strong grassroots backing ahead of the exercise. Speaking to journalists on the sidelines, some of the delegates said their support was driven by the development Gapyil has brought to Mikan since assuming office.
They noted that voting him back would ensure continuity in ongoing projects, including the road construction currently underway in the local government. “Voting Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil back means we will see more dividends of democracy, and the current road project in Mikan can continue without delay,” one delegate said.
The supporters added that their choice was focused on the development of Mikan, stressing that no previous member of the State House of Assembly from the constituency had performed at his level. According to them, the priority is to return him to the House for the overall benefit of the local government.
The primaries in Mikan form part of the APC’s state assembly selection process across Plateau State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
